Fraud & Scam Alert

Last updated: August 29, 2026

Stay alert

ResumeON never asks job seekers to pay for interviews, training, or job placement. Legitimate employers do not request upfront fees to hire you.

Overview

Hiring scams are common across job platforms, email, WhatsApp, Telegram, and social media. Fraudsters may impersonate recruiters, create fake companies, or copy real job listings to steal money or personal data.

This page is a general safety guide for job seekers and employers using ResumeON. It does not replace your own verification. See also our Disclaimer.

Common scam patterns

  • Upfront payment requests: Fees for registration, background checks, laptop deposits, training, visa processing, or "job confirmation" are major red flags.
  • Fake recruiters: Someone contacts you claiming to represent a well-known company but uses a personal email, free messaging app, or unofficial domain.
  • Too-good-to-be-true offers: Extremely high pay, instant hiring with no interview, or work-from-home roles requiring little skill for large compensation.
  • Requests for sensitive data: Aadhaar, PAN, bank account, OTP, passport scans, or card details shared before a verified employer relationship is established.
  • Off-platform pressure: Recruiters who refuse to communicate through verifiable company channels and push you to private chat apps only.
  • Impersonation of ResumeON staff: Messages claiming to be from ResumeON support that ask for passwords, OTP codes, or payments.
  • Fake job listings: Employers or impersonators posting roles for companies they do not represent, or copying legitimate jobs with altered contact details.
  • Advance-fee fraud for employers: Fake candidates or agencies promising guaranteed hires or candidate databases for a fee outside normal platform use.

Warning signs for job seekers

  • The recruiter will not share a verifiable company website or office details
  • Interview happens only over chat with no video or named interviewer
  • You receive an offer letter before any meaningful evaluation
  • You are asked to buy equipment, software, or crypto through a specific vendor
  • Communication contains poor grammar, urgency, or threats
  • The job post contact email does not match the employer's domain

Warning signs for employers

  • Candidate refuses video verification or provides inconsistent work history
  • Profile appears copied from another person or uses stock imagery
  • Third parties claim they can deliver candidates for an upfront fee
  • Someone impersonates your company and posts jobs without authorization
  • Requests to move hiring communication to unverified personal accounts

What you should do

  1. Verify the employer through its official website and known contact channels
  2. Never share OTPs, passwords, or full financial credentials with anyone
  3. Do not pay money to get a job or to receive candidate introductions
  4. Keep records of messages, phone numbers, URLs, and payment requests
  5. Use ResumeON messaging and profile tools where possible for traceability
  6. Report suspicious activity to ResumeON and, if needed, local authorities
